Welcome to MeaLens. By accessing or using our mobile application and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the app.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the MeaLens application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and MeaLens regarding your use of the application and any related services.

2. Description of Service

MeaLens is an AI-powered nutrition tracking mobile application that provides the following features:

  • AI Food Recognition: Image analysis via OpenAI Vision API to identify foods and estimate nutritional content
  • Macro Tracking: Monitoring of calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fats
  • Goal Setting: Personalized daily nutrition targets based on your profile
  • Progress Visualization: Activity rings and charts showing your nutrition trends
  • Premium Features: Subscription-based access to unlimited scans, AI meal suggestions, and data export

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

To access certain features of MeaLens, you must create an account. Account creation is managed through Supabase authentication. You may register using your email address and password.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Providing accurate and complete information during registration

Account Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your account. However, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You agree to use strong, unique passwords and to keep your credentials confidential.

4. Subscription and Billing

Free Tier

MeaLens offers a free tier that includes:

  • 3 AI food scans per day
  • Basic macro tracking
  • 7-day meal history
  • Activity rings visualization

Premium Tier

Premium subscriptions are available at $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year (50% savings). Premium includes:

  • Unlimited AI food scans
  • Complete meal history
  • Advanced statistics and trends
  • AI-powered meal suggestions
  • Data export to CSV/PDF
  • Priority customer support

Billing

Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store via RevenueCat. By subscribing, you agree to:

  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Payment: Your Apple ID account will be charged upon confirmation of purchase
  • Cancellation: You may cancel anytime through your App Store account settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple according to their refund policies. We do not provide refunds for partial subscription periods. For refund requests, please contact Apple Support directly.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to modify subscription prices with at least 30 days advance notice. Price changes will not affect current subscription periods.

5. User Content

Photo Uploads

When you use MeaLens, you may upload photos of food for AI analysis. You retain full ownership of all photos you upload.

License Grant

By uploading photos, you grant MeaLens a limited, non-exclusive license to:

  • Process images through our AI analysis system
  • Store nutritional data derived from your photos
  • Display your meal history within the app

Note: Food photos are processed temporarily and are not permanently stored on our servers. Only the derived nutritional information is retained.

Content Restrictions

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Is illegal, harmful, or offensive
  • Infringes on third-party rights
  • Contains malware or harmful code
  • Violates any applicable laws or regulations

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms without prior notice.

6. AI Accuracy Disclaimer

Important: MeaLens uses artificial intelligence to estimate nutritional information from food photos. While we strive for accuracy, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Estimates Only: All nutritional values provided are estimates and may not be 100% accurate
  • Not Medical Advice: MeaLens is not a substitute for professional medical or nutritional advice
  • Consult Professionals: For specific dietary needs, medical conditions, or health concerns, please consult qualified healthcare professionals
  • No Guarantee: We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any nutritional information provided
  • User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for any decisions made based on information from the app

7. Intellectual Property

MeaLens and its entire contents, features, and functionality are owned by MeaLens and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the application
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use our trademarks, logos, or branding without permission
  • Create derivative works based on our application

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
  • We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We are not responsible for any health outcomes or damages resulting from reliance on nutritional information provided by the app
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid to us in the past 12 months

9. Termination

By MeaLens

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
  • Abuse or misuse the service

By You

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion:

  • Your account will be deactivated immediately
  • Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through the App Store

Data Retention

After account deletion, we may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes for up to 90 days.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make changes:

  • We will post the updated terms in the app
  • We will update the "Effective Date" at the top
  • For material changes, we will provide notice through the app or via email

Your continued use of MeaLens after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of MeaLens shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
